Halloween card #6

Hello friends, this card was a lot of fun, as I am experimenting with colors and inks, stamps and embellishments, I am learning new things every week that goes by. The products I have used for this card all come from Tim Holtz collection, I love them. First step was choosing the paper, I have a lot to learn about that too, I have used a mixed media paper , folded in half and glued together, I have sprayed the card with the Distress Oxides for Halloween, orange purple and green, and played with a bit of water on it, after drying it I stitched all around the card with black floss. The stamps applied in the corners are from Stampers Anonymous, you can see I was experimenting with inks by the squares you see in the picture, I am new to this form of art so I am learning as I am going, making mistakes here and there! For the first time ever I have used my Sizzix machine and cut two pumpkins, the two ghosts, the web and the spider on the window frame, I am fixated with windows for some reason, I think they look really cool on a card, adding that depth and dimension to it. I have inked the pumpkins with Distress Black Soot and orange, the two ghosts with Distress Hickory smoke, the cobweb with the same black as the pumpkin, I will list the material at the end of this paragraph. Glued the two ghosts in the middle of the card, in a way that they could be somewhat visible through the window frame, I glued the web and the spider on the window first, let that dry, then added that to the card, glued the pumpkins on the corners of the card opposite to the stamps, added two stamps “HAPPY HALLOWEEN” and “SPOOKY!” at the end, and used embossing powder for texture, same as the other two stamps. Last was the number 31 on the window in the middle.

LIST OF MATERIAL : Stamps from Stamper Anonymous CMS397, Distress inks, black soot, carved pumpkin, vintage photo, and hickory smoke, Distress Oxides green, orange and purple, windows frame from Tim Holtz Idea-Ology collection, stamps from Tim Holtz Idea-Ology collection, Sizzix Thinlits #664209, Tim Holtz Idea-Ology ephemera, everything on this card is from Tim Holtz collection beside the paper.

Halloween Card #5

Hey there! This card came out from a mistake. I was going to start a Christmas card and experimenting with colors, playing with paper and textures, mixing Tim Holtz Distress Oxide and Distress ink pads. For this I used Vintage Photo and Mustard Seed Distress Oxide, Vintage Photo and Candied Apple Distress Ink, for me this is a learning process as I am very new to this Art, overall I’m not too discontent with what came out, it was a mistake that turned into a card. I used heavy card stock paper, made some of the corner you see by cutting them with special scissors, I made a tag and added metal corners, and glued it to one side of the card, added stamps form Stamper Anonymous, and used embossing powder on them, I didn’t take any picture beside this one below, because I was just experimenting, I realized how much learning there is to do, all last night I was studying Tim Holtz YouTube channel for tutorials, this artist is such an inspiration and for me a genius! I added at the end some styrofoam pearls coated with Mixative Rose Gold alcohol ink to give a bit of shine. I will be going away for 3 days to the White Mountains in NH and will bring with me only my iPad to watch the tutorials on YouTube , time to study ! I will be back Monday and start working again…Happy Creating to all of you!

Halloween card #4

Welcome to the house of the renowned world entomologist Mr & Mrs Bugs, it’s October 31st, they are world travelers! Again this card was a lot of fun but a little challenging , but I finished anyways and I am very pleased with it. I took two very heavy pieces of card stock and covered them with green paper after I sprayed them with Tim Holtz distress oxide, while they were drying I folded two pieces of lace and glued them together with double sided clear tape, I added embossing powder so it stuck to the folded lace. I stamped a window, added a small wreath with embellishments I made and glued it to the front of the card with a hot glue gun. As you open the card, I stamped on the left side a script about entomology, the stamp is from Stamper Anonymous, Tim Holtz collection. In the middle of the script I added a strip of felt and sewed on a piece of paper which I cut from a package of goodies from Tim Holtz Idea-Ology products, I don’t throw away anything, the world “Halloween” on the wreath comes from that too. A tag with their name, bugs stamped and embossed with embossing powder to give it texture. inside the strip of paper in the middle of the script added a sticker with word “Explore” always from Tim Holtz Idea-Ology collection , I slid in the tag, a page of my husband’s old passport, a tag with an old postcard cutout, and a 100 Francs bill which is real by the way. To close the card on the left side I added a metal hinge that I had in the house , covered the holes with orange paper fasteners on both sides. On the right side I glued Tim Holtz paper dolls, colored the flower of the bride and the gloves and bowtie of the groom, poked two holes and slid in a string to eventually close the card. Most of the material is Tim Holtz but I used items found in my house, being an artist I have a ton of material laying around and usable for scrapbooking or any other form of art. Enjoy the card and create everyday , it’s fun and very rewarding , in case you go visit Mr & Mrs Bugs, watch out for insects everywhere 😉 I wanted to put a witch hat on Mrs Bugs head to add a bit of comical content ! Enjoy ….

Antique Samplers

Since I was a little girl I have loved hand embroidery , Samplers are my favorites, I saw a few at an antique show years ago and I fell in love with them, knowing already how to stitch I decided to make some for my house! The samplers you see down below are just few example I have in my house, handmade by me on 32count linen, using cross-stitch with DMC floss.

Mandala Drawings

Mandalas are spiritual circles and non, drawings, using your imagination and geometrical shapes you form a beautiful design. I add organic shapes in them, like a doodle, just to make them not too strong for the eye. For me drawing is a form of meditation, I find it very relaxing. I can only draw this way, I couldn’t draw a dog or a cat even if you pay me! I have been drawing for years now and not one Mandala is equal to another one, even if the concept is the same. Enjoy!

Temari balls

Wanted to add this post because as stated in my introduction, I create art and craft in every way possible, thanks for visiting my blog!

A Temari Ball is a form of art first born in China, after a period of time Japan took over and from that point on it was magic. First created by parents and grandparents for children to play with they became pieces of art to collect or use as a display in the house, I keep all of mine on my table in a wooden bowl . Making a Temari is not simple, you have to form a perfect ball made with rice husk wrapped in floss, once the ball is formed you have to divide it in geometrical shapes and then with a particular method you go around the ball to form a design with embroidery floss, down below you can see my creations. Enjoy !

Halloween Card #3

This card was a lot of fun! My imagination runs wild as I’m practicing, I have used a black envelope, sprayed some distress oxide on it, and distress mica spray, cut two strips of a book page and sprayed those too, as these items were drying I focused on the page I glued on the envelope , it’s kind of an heavy card stock because with a stencil I added a raised design to look like a wall background, for the wall I used texture paste which I stained with oxide ink applying it with a special brush, and some mica distress spray, glued the two strips of a book page to the folding of the envelope. I started putting things together , I added the OCT and RIP with stamps, black ink and embossing powder , heated that up to give it texture, the embellishment are all from Tim Holtz Ideology collection, I’m in love with his products, I also added strips of wall paper which I did cut some to fit in the wall background, the vial with red liquid in it is filled with red sugar and water, obviously I did glue the cork to the vile, I did put some embroidery floss around the metal loop on the cork to hide the shine of it…this card is supposed to represent a crazy chemist who died on October 31st because he was poisoning his customers ( lol! )… HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Off to create another one! Soon I’ll start with Christmas ….HAPPY CREATING!

Halloween card #2

This is a tag for a present for those who are born close to Halloween season, it can also be used in junk journals , same method as #cardnumber1 , you ca read my prior post, here though I glued the paper and also stitched it, with a blender brush I stained the stitching with purple pastels. I love to use mixed media, adding some embellishment is a lot of fun

Halloween card #1

What I did here is, glueing two cards together , spray them with #timholtz distress oxide sprays, add stamping for the window, bats, lady in the back and everything you see in black, I have cut the window with an exacto knife and created curtains cut from vellum paper, on the stamps I added embossing powder and heated with an heating gun to give it texture, this is my very first card I created and I am very satisfied with it, also I used cheese cloth under the scary lady after I sprayed it with orange distress oxide and glued it with Modge Podge. I let my imagination run wild when I get to work but at the same time I have a lot to learn but having fun and Halloween is my favorite time of the year , looking forward to create more! Enjoy…
